Tips to make the negative side effects of your vegan transition not that difficult:

tips transition vegan diet stop negative side effects
  1. Unfortunately, we can’t go back in time, be happy that you made the change now, it will take longer for other people.
  2. Show them that you are the living proof that veganism is healthy (healthier I would say) and yummy with great pics of your food and bring yummy food when being invited at their place
  3. It took some time for you as well, most of us were not born vegan, give them time, don’t push them, neither judge them. Lead by example, show them amazing pics of vegan food and let them try what you eat. I know that to empathize in such situations is not easy because you might think that if you are telling them, then they should stop harming animals and the environment. However, we can’t force someone to change.
  4. Some vegan people choose to not eat anymore at the same table of people eating animals. It’s not my choice, but I know some choose to. Again, my best tip is to remember that you were also eating the same thing before and that one day they – hopefully- will understand as well.
  5. Well, sometimes, this can be for the best. If your “friends” don’t accept you as you are, then I am not sure they are your friends. Mention that you don’t like those jokes or to talk for hours about how much they love bacon. If they don’t respect you, well, then it’s your choice to take a step back. I now have some amazing vegan friends, that I love meeting!
  6. Check out local vegan Facebook groups, Meetup groups or on Couchsurfing. If nothing exists in your area, create a group. I am sure there are others where you live. You don’t need 100 of new vegan friends but I can bet, you will find a couple new ones!!
  7. Use “Is it vegan?” App to make it easier
  8. One solution is to bring your own favorite vegan food, share it with others. Another solution is to discuss with the event organizer and let them know that you are vegan. Not only just mentioning it, but also giving them ideas of things that could be some easy options for you and everyone else and some recipes.
  9. Explain them what vegan means, give them a list of Can / cannot eat, your favorite recipes to help them not feel helpless about what to cook for you when you are coming for dinner
  10. Back to tip 5
  11. Try not to eat a lot of fake meat / processed food / sugar
  12. Back to tip 5
  13. Suggest them to watch “What the health” to know how healthy vegan is and how not healthy the other options are… and go back to tip 5
  14. Check out recipes on Instagram and Pinterest you will find out quickly, that you will get much more creative in the kitchen and that the vegan world is full of choices!
  15. oh yeah! I can relate and unfortunately, you can’t do much on this one. We just have to make sure to keep us inform now!
